KooLKIDS…
- Is Australian-based;
- Is based on a strong body of theory and empirical research;
- Demonstrates theory-practice links through providing highly engaging materials to children;
- Uses interactive multimedia format presentation;
- Uses story telling through a likeable character (Okki the Octopus);
- Is specifically tailored to appeal to and increase the level of engagement of children aged 8 to 11 years;
- Uses whole of class, small group and individual activities to convey important messages on strengths, emotions, empathy, and friendship skills;
- Includes a pre- and post- intervention evaluation process that provides a thorough assessment of children's progress throughout the program;
- Adopts a wraparound team approach which includes the cooperation of teachers, parents, school counsellors, and the students themselves;
- Has been designed with extensive input from educational psychologists, primary school teachers and students;
- Consists of 13 sessions with flexible delivery options, and a range of follow up activities for classes; and,
